Trophies and Scars
I’m currently reading through Practicing HIs Presence by Brother Lawrence and Frank Laubach.
This quote is found in the introduction by Frank Laubach. After receiving a man of the year award he said, “The Lord will not wish to count my trophies, but my scars”
We proudly display our trophies, but hide our scars.
Trophies are easy to achieve, scars are reminders of a fight.
Trophies are a one-time achievement, scars are a lifetime accomplishment.
Trophies can be packed away, scars are carried with you.
Trophies are given, scars are fought for.
Trophies don’t keep you up at night, scars come from staying up all night.
Scars mold you, they remind you of the past and point you to your future.
The scars that the enemy meant to be a reminder that you are a failure or that God does not love you, are signs that God is a healer.
Are you holding onto trophies as a sign of success or are you allowing God to use your scars to show his success?
